15 May 2025 – AN IMPORTANT REQUEST and A CHANGE OF DIRECTION

Yesterday a close friend made a fabulous suggestion!

Now that I have reached the present day in my Diary, why don’t I try to reflect upon specific pieces of music encountered in the past 210 years, and then share insights about how it feels for me in my body and frame – with all the different inflections and emotions?

So I am asking you, my good readers, to let me know about any piece of music which ‘moves’ you, ‘stirs’ you, affects you bodily – and I can try to remember if I have played it, and how it ‘felt’ for me.

[In the meantime, and in my next Blog instalment, I will have a go at sharing some of my feelings while playing ‘A Mass of Life’ recently, in the 2^nd Violin Section, under the direction of Sir Mark Elder.]
